About Rob

Dr Rob Bomont is a highly experienced, tertiary trained and accredited specialist paediatrician and neonatologist in Cayman. He is based out of Grand Pavilion on West Bay Road with admitting rights at both the Doctors Hospital and Cayman Islands Hospital in George Town. Before relocating to Cayman, he was College Tutor for the Royal College of Paediatics and Child Health, Programme Training Director for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery and a Consultant and Lead Clinician for neonatology at University Hospitals Sussex. He has a particular interest in antenatal counselling, developmental paediatrics, childhood infection and paediatric medicines.

Rob’s Education, Training & Experience

Dr Rob Bomont completed undergraduate medical training at the University of Edinburgh, and it was there he first developed his passion for paediatric and neonatal medicine. Dr Bomont undertook a further degree in Pharmacology (study of medicines) whilst there.

Dr Bomont completed general paediatric and subspecialty neonatal training in the Oxford, Rutland and East of England Deaneries gaining experience in the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, Leicester Royal Infirmary and the Rosie Hospital, Cambridge. He is accredited in both Paediatric Medicine and Subspecialty Neonatal Medicine having completed a total of 10 years of training in Paediatric Medicine, four of which were solely in tertiary neonatal centres.

Dr Bomont has over 17 years of experience as a Consultant Neonatologist working in a regional tertiary level neonatal medical and surgical unit in Brighton, UK. He practices “hands-on” evidence-based medicine and has the highest professional and clinical standards. Laterally he was clinical lead for a team of 12 consultants. Dr Bomont’s clinical responsibilities included care of all newborn infants from 22 weeks gestation onwards. He was a member of the National Policy Group which rolled out the Newborn Infant and Physical Examination Programme for the United Kingdom. Dr Bomont has specific training in Developmental Paediatrics and was lead for paediatric infectious diseases and immunisation.

He was a trainer and course director for the Resuscitation Council UK, NLS and ARNI newborn resuscitation courses for doctors, nurses and midwives.

Dr Bomont is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
