About Dr Seshadri Pramodh
After completing his undergraduate studies in India, Dr. Pramodh pursued post-graduate training in the UK and obtained MRCP (UK) in 2000. His 5-year specialty training in Diabetes & Endocrinology included 2 years at King’s College Hospital, London, known for its expertise in Diabetes, pituitary, and thyroid disorders, and 2 years at Portsmouth teaching hospitals. Dr Pramodh obtained his CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) in Endocrinology and Internal Medicine in 2007.
With 17 years of experience as a consultant in Endocrinology at Yeovil District General Hospital in the UK, Dr. Pramodh served as the clinical lead for inpatient Diabetes, Diabetes in pregnancy, and Endocrinology. He was heavily involved in collaborative research studies in Diabetes and spearheaded quality improvement initiatives in Medicine at the hospital.
Dr. Pramodh has accumulated over 24 years of experience in Diabetes, including specialist training at King’s College Hospital, London, and Portsmouth Hospital. His particular interests lie in intensive Type 1 Diabetes management and Diabetes in Pregnancy. He led the clinical service for Diabetes in pregnancy for 17 years, conducting joint clinics with obstetricians in a multi-disciplinary setting at Yeovil District Hospital. He also has extensive expertise in inpatient Diabetes management and Diabetic foot disease.
Furthermore, Dr. Pramodh possesses more than 20 years of experience in managing Type 2 Diabetes, focusing on the optimal use of new insulin-sensitizing medications such as SGLT-2 receptor antagonists and GLP-1 analogs. He advocates for a holistic approach to the management of Type 2 Diabetes, emphasizing lifestyle modifications at every stage.

Type 1 Diabetes
I specialize in helping individuals with Type 1 Diabetes maintain good blood glucose control through insulin injections or pumps. I also support patients in managing their blood sugar levels with continuous glucose monitoring systems like Libre and Dexcom devices. Additionally, I’ve completed the Bournemouth insulin pump course.
Diabetes in pregnancy
In the course of my specialist training, I received high-level instruction in managing diabetes during pregnancy. I gained extensive experience from participating in weekly multi-disciplinary clinics at teaching hospitals such as King’s College Hospital, London, and Portsmouth Hospitals. At Yeovil Hospital, I initiated a multi-disciplinary Diabetes in Pregnancy service, collaborating with obstetricians to establish the following provisions:
- Ante-natal diabetes care for women with underlying Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes
- Management of gestational diabetes
- Pre-conception diabetes care for women with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes
- Post-natal diabetes management
Pituitary Disease
After training at King’s College Hospital in the UK, known for its high volume of pituitary surgeries, I’ve gained extensive experience in managing pituitary diseases. As a consultant, I’ve established a multi-disciplinary pituitary clinic at Yeovil Hospital to ensure optimal care for patients with pituitary tumors.
My expertise includes diagnosing and looking after patients with primary and secondary adrenal insufficiency and adrenal incidental tumours. I have diagnosed and managed patients with rare conditions including primary hyperaldosteronism and phaeochromocytoma.
Calcium and Bone metabolism and Osteoporosis
I regularly saw 2 or 3 new patients every week with primary hyperparathyroidism and other causes of hypercalcemia. I am fully competent in managing their care, including working with parathyroid surgeons when necessary for surgical treatment. I am also proficient in managing hypocalcemia and hypomagnesemia. Gaining experience in secondary osteoporosis caused by conditions such as hyperparathyroidism, hyperthyroidism, steroid over-replacement, and hypogonadism has also helped me in the overall management of osteoporosis.
Sodium Disorders
I am an expert in working up dysnatraemias (Sodium disorders), both in inpatients and outpatients, and offering treatment plans.
