School Health Checks in Grand Cayman

Each member of our paediatric team, Dr Siobhan Jaques, Dr Sarah Newton, Dr Tamara Bugembe or Dr Zanele Balang can conduct your child’s School Health Check, swiftly, efficiently and comprehensively. This ensures your child fully complies with the mandatory requirements and is allowed entry to school.

School Health Checks are MANDATORY

School Health Checks are required for all children entering Government schools for the first time and for children in private schools when they enter Kindergarten or Pre K4 or move to Cayman at an older age. This includes children entering reception programmes too.

The check or screening includes a growth and developmental assessment, a detailed physical examination including for scoliosis, screening for hearing or vision concerns, a dental assessment, review of necessary immunizations and obtaining a student’s personal medical history.

Who Can Conduct School Health Checks?

Children attending private schools should make an appointment to see their private paediatrician (any private paediatrician).

Children attending public schools can also have the school heath checks done by a private paediatrician. However, these are also being conducted by HSA, who should be able to advise you when these are being done. Full details of when and where HSA are conducting their checks are generally posted on the Government news site (but are yet to appear for 2022).
