ADHD Assessment
ADHD Assessment FAQs
Is this the right assessment for my child?
This ADHD assessment pathway is best suited to children aged 5 and above who are in full time education and have confirmation from school that there are no concerns of significant learning difficulties. We would recommend that your child’s vision and hearing is tested before our first appointment.
Children who have different developmental profiles may require another approach that involves input from psychologists, speech and/or occupational therapists to come to a diagnostic conclusion.
Our assessment does not provide the cognitive testing required by certain examination boards for approval of certain accommodations. Please discuss with your child’s SENCO whether they think this is indicated.
If you are unsure, the suitability of this package can be explored by booking a 30 minute developmental review with our pediatrician outside of our package.
ADHD Assessment FAQs
How is an assessment by a neurodevelopmental pediatrician different?
ADHD can present differently in children, but other medical conditions can also mimic or intensify ADHD symptoms. While many psychologists and paediatricians are able to diagnose ADHD, a neurodevelopmental pediatrician is uniquely trained to consider rare alternative conditions that are important to identify for effective goal setting, safe treatment and long term planning.
Our assessment does not include cognitive assessments that identify specific learning differences such as dysgraphia, dyslexia and dyscalculia. Please have a discussion with the school fi you suspect these conditions may be part of your child’s profile.

What happens after a diagnosis is made?
At the conclusion appointment we will discuss treatment options and a diagnostic report will be sent to you which you can share with the school and other parties involved in your child’s care. We offer medical treatment and follow up at Integra, continuing treatment with the same paediatrician who made the diagnosis, allows for continuity of goal setting, the opportunity to build on challenges and strengths identified during the assessment process and follow up on any investigations suggested as part of the diagnostic assessment.
We start at low dose and adjust the medication cautiously, so we may see your child regularly in the first few months. Once a treatment regime is established we review your child’s response, growth and monitor for side effects every 6 months.
